Mary Ellen Clark Fails

 

Mary Ellen Clark Fails, a resident of Dothan, died Monday, December 5, 2011, surrounded by her family and friends.

 

Funeral services will be held 12 Noon Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Gross officiating. Burial will follow in Madrid Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 until 11:45 on Thursday. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Alabama Baptist Children’s Home, P. O. Box 361767, Birmingham, AL, 35236.

 

Ms. Fails was born October 24, 1945 in Dothan and lived all her life here. She was employed with Lyster Army Hospital at Ft. Rucker for several years and was an Administrative Assistant with the City of Dothan for over 20 years. Ms. Fails was a member of Grandview Baptist Church and First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and taught children’s choir. She had been active in WMU at both churches. Ms. Fails was an amazing mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.

 

Ms. Fails was preceded in death by her parents, R.L. and Myrtle Clark; her brother, D.D. Clark; and her sisters, Carolyn Blakey and Martha Hayes.

 

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Clay Doyle and  granddaughters, Ellen Clarke and Sarah Bentley Doyle, all of Mobile; sisters, Nancy Campbell of Dothan, Sue Clark of Okeechobee, FL, and Shirley McInnis and her husband, Walter of Dothan; best friend, Denny McKinnon; ex-husband, Charles Fails; and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Marcey Ciecierski.
