MARY EVELYN JOWERS

COLUMBIA.…Mary Evelyn Jowers, a resident of Columbia, AL passed away Saturday night, October 24, 2020, at her home. She was 83.

            Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel with Pastor Vann Cooley officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbia City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory. All Covid-19 social distancing guidelines will be implemented. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to serve the Jowers family.

            Ms. Jowers was born in Americus, Georgia to the late Wilmer Singletary and Lizzy Horne Singletary. She had previously lived in Havana, Florida before moving to Columbia, Alabama over 53 years ago. She was a graduate of Havana High School in Havana, Florida. She was retired from Michelin Tire. She was a member of the First Baptist Church – Columbia. She was active in the Columbia Senior Citizen Center. She loved her flowers.

            Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Oliver Singletary, and Walter Howard Singletary.

            Leaving to cherish her memories are daughters, Nancy Jowers and Debra Jowers Lewis (Kenny), both of Columbia, AL; a son Billy Jowers (Lois) of Wicksburg, Al; her granddaughter, Krystle Sealy of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; her great-grandchildren, Luke Ashley and Landon McCoy also of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; her sisters, Brenda Hurst and Geneva Faircloth; her special friends, Rhonda Freeman, Emily McKnight, Nina Cordell, and Kameron Ivey, along with many other special friends.

            The family wishes to express a special thanks to SouthernCare Hospice, Mike and Sherry McKnight, and Jeff and Tamala Huff for their compassionate care given at the time of need.
