Mary Frances Culbreth Odom

Mary Frances Culbreth Odom, a resident of Dothan, died Friday, August 10, 2012, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was 88.

 

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 13, 2012, at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. James Culbreth, Rev. Mike McLemore, and Rev.  Stacey Stafford officiating. Interment will follow in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, (near Columbia) with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.

 

Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church “Cemetery Fund”, or a charity of your choice.

 

Mrs. Odom was born September 4, 1923 in Houston County and lived the early years of her life there. She was a graduate of Houston County High School. Following her marriage to M.A. Odom, she moved to Dothan where she resided the remainder of her life.  She was employed in retail clothing sales and was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. She and her family also enjoyed music, singing, family reunions and especially listening to the Gaither Vocal Band. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

 

She is predeceased by her husband, M.A. Odom, a son, Dan Odom and four brothers.

 

Survivors include two sons, Dennis Odom (Lynn) and Tim Odom (Cathy), all of Dothan; a daughter, Terry Walker of Dothan; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Odom of Headland; grandchildren, Steven Hughes (Kasey), Danny Odom (Chasity), Kris Trawick (Raechel), April McKinion (Randy), Neil Walker (Susan), Benjamin Odom, Brandon Odom (Meaghan) and Hannah Odom; fourteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Culbreth of Columbia; four brothers, Rudy Culbreth (Lanette) of Dothan, Frank Culbreth (Jenny) of Dothan, Tommy Culbreth (Ginny) of Tallahassee, FL and Gerald Culbreth (Linda) of Tallahassee, FL.

 

Serving as active pallbearers will be Steven Hughes, Danny Odom, Kris Trawick, Cody Hughes, Neil Walker, Randy McKinion, Benjamin Odom and Brandon Odom.

 

The family would like to thank her caregivers at Extendicare for their loving care and devotion.
