> Mary Lee Segler Goodman of Ashford died Thursday, July 19, 2012, at


> her residence. She was 86.


> Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, July 21, 2012, at


> Bluff Springs Baptist Church with Reverends Bobby Anderson and Dennis


> Singletary officiating. Burial will follow in Ashford City Cemetery


> with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.


> The family will be receiving friends at the church from 1 to 2 P.M.


> Saturday, July 21, 2012, one hour prior to the service.


> Mrs. Goodman was born January 22, 1926, in Mexia, Texas, the daughter


> of the late William Judson Segler and Sabie Murphy Segler.


> Mrs. Goodman moved to Panama City, FL from Texas at the early age of


> fourteen. She attended Bay County High School and after graduation,


> she moved to Dothan, Al; where she enrolled in the Moody Hospital


> School of Nursing. She graduated in 1947 as a Registered Nurse.


> In September of 1947, she married James W. Goodman and they moved to


> Ashford in 1949. She begin working for the late Dr. Manley L. Cummins,


> Jr. in Ashford and worked for him for twenty two years until his


> death. She worked at Southeast Alabama Medical Center for a period of


> her career and also for Dr. Gordon Atkinson at Southern Clinic until


> her retirement in 1988. She had a total of forty-four years of


> nursing.


> Mrs. Goodman was a member of Bluff Springs Baptist Church in Ashford


> where she was a faithful member of the Ma Addison Sunday School Class


> and also a member of the Golden Achievers.


> She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James W.


> Goodman, a great-granddaughter, Rylee Goodman and her sister, Myrle


> Jean Adams.


> Survivors include her son, Michael W. Goodman and wife, Peggy of


> Dothan, Al., her daughter, Kathy Jordan and husband, Larry of Tifton,


> Ga. Her grandson, Chad Goodman and wife Melissa of Austin, Tx; and


> granddaughter, Molly Bevan and husband Craig of Tifton, Ga;


> great-grandchildren, Patrick Goodman, of Texas; Jennifer Wagnor


> (Kevin), Heather Goldsbourough (Greg), and Justi Bozeman, Jack, Cason,


> and Ben Bevan of Tifton, several step-grandchildren and


> step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother-in-law,


> Winfred Adams of Birmingham, Al. and a sister-in-law, Ruth Holt of


> Brewton, Al; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.


> A special thanks to her special friends, Tommy and Linda Fondren, Dot


> O. Margie, Dot B. and Bessie South. Her caregiver, Annie and others


> from Complete Caregivers. Also a special thanks to Covenant Hospice


> fro their kindness and caring during Mothers sickness. Flowers will be
