Mary Lou York Edmondson

Mary Lou Edmondson, age 78 a longtime resident of Dothan died Tuesday morning June 4, 2019 in the emergency department of a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday June 7, 2019 in the Chapel of Angels at Family First Funeral & Cremation Care with the Rev. Joey Hudspeth officiating.  A private burial will follow at Gardens of Memory.  Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons Matthew Granberry, Justin Granberry, Joshua Edmondson and Jacob Edmondson.  The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 A.M. until service time.  In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Resource Center 1314 Westgate Parkway Suite 2, Dothan, AL 36303.

Mrs. Edmondson was born on Tuesday August 6, 1940 in Houston County daughter of the late Fletcher York, Sr., and Katie Florence Smith York.  She was a lifelong resident of Houston County and was a homemaker.  Mary Lou was an excellent cook and several of her entries received top honors in the National Peanut Festival Recipe Contest.  She also enjoyed travelling was extremely social and was a member of Southside Baptist Church.  Other than her parents she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, 4 sisters and her loving husband Billy J. Edmondson who died Saturday April 27, 2019.

Survivors include her daughter Lori Bolinger of Midland City, a son Michael Edmondson (Bonnie) of Leesburge, GA., 2 sisters Martha Sue Hasty of Valdosta, GA., Ann York a resident of Extendicare Health Center in Dothan, and 4 grandsons Matthew Granberry (Dawn), Justin Granberry (Lindsey), Joshua Edmondson and Jacob Edmondson

Care for the Edmondson family is being provided by Randy Crenshaw, Jason Shepard and the Family First Staff.
