Mary Merritt Ezekiel, a resident of Columbus, Ga. Died  Friday, October 21, 2011. She was 89.

Graveside services will be held at Memory Hill Cemetery, Dothan, Al. On Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 1 P. M., CST  with Reverend Coley Holloway officiating, Ward Wilson Funeral Home Directing. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1 P.M. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ezekiel was born March 8, 1922, in Geneva County, Al., the third daughter of the late William Wilson Merritt and Ida Nora Howell. She was retired from Civil Service at Fort Benning, Ga. She enjoyed many years with her father,  mother and sisters, working in her yard and creating her own original arts and crafts, collecting blue glass and her Chihuahua “babies”.

Mrs. Ezekiel was a Methodist by faith and a member of the Lafayette Street United Methodist Church , Dothan, Al. We are comforted by Mary’s forward looking belief that she would see Jesus, her father, mother and sisters in heaven.

 

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Hazel Marie Merritt and Naomi Baggett.

 

She is survived by her son Merritt A. Ezekiel and wife Pamela of Columbus, Ga.

Four sisters, Martha Will Bryan, Phenix City, Al., Sarah Grace Mandile of Dothan, Al., Jimmie Frank Brigandi and husband Charlie of Lancaster, Pa. and Ida Jean Collins of Dothan, Al. Six nieces and six nephews

 

The family would like to give thanks to the Saint Francis Hospital, “We Care For Life” team. Special thanks to Dr. Surber and the Ground South Staff for demonstrating compassion and competence during this very difficult time.
