MARY  PEACOCK  MILLS



DOTHAN. . .Mary Peacock Mills, a longtime resident of Dothan, went home to be with the Lord, early Friday morning, April 18, 2014, at the home of a daughter, near Midland City.  She was 77.


            Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, April 19, 2014, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Mike Griggs officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. Saturday at the mortuary. At other times, the family will be at the home of a daughter, Brenda Griggs, 4924 County Road 73, Midland City.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice, P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, AL 36302.


            Mrs. Mills was born and reared in Cottonwood, daughter of the late Leslie Quincey Peacock, and Erie Messer Peacock. A 1954 graduate of Cottonwood High School, she was also a graduate of Riley Business College. Mrs. Mills was a retired employee of Dothan Glass Company. She was a member of the Magnolia Free Will Baptist Church and was an avid bowler. Mrs. Mills was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Mills, a sister, Katie Merle Wright, two brothers, J. C. Peacock, and Oscar Peacock, and a great-grandson, Remington Hartzog.


            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Brenda Griggs (Rev. Mike Griggs), Midland City; and Linda Gulledge (Roger), Headland; a son, Ken Monk (Tracy), Dothan;  her twin sister, Martha Jo Watford, Dothan; six grandchildren, Kalon Griggs (Tiffany), Anthony Griggs (Amy), Leslie Willis, Michelle Hartzog, Meagan Hartzog, and Keith Monk (Jeanna); ten great-grandchildren, Savanna Griggs, Emma Grace Griggs, Lila Faith Griggs, Kade Griggs, Anna Griggs, Avery Griggs, Gage Willis, Zane Willis, Jamie Monk, and Alex Monk; a special friend, Dean Perry, Dothan; several nieces and nephews.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Kalon Griggs, Anthony Griggs, Gage Willis, Keith Monk, Lee Peacock, and Chris Enfinger.
