MARY PETERMAN

ABBEVILLE… Mary Peterman, a resident of the Abbeville, Alabama, passed away early Saturday morning, January 27, 2024, at her home. She was 74.

          No services are planned at this time.

          Mrs. Mary Peterman was born Mary Anglin Mitchell, to the late Beatrice Mitchell and D.C. Holmes of Birmingham, Alabama on March 1, 1949. She moved to Abbeville, Alabama once she met and married her husband, Sherman. Mary devoted her life to taking care of her family and anyone else in need. She was best known for her delicious food, cakes, and flare for decorating. She also loved to dance and have a good time. As the family matriarch, she took great joy in hosting holidays, special events and Sunday dinners. If you showed up, you were being fed and leaving with a plate. She loved to shop and look good, but she really enjoyed flowers. Silk ones inside and planting her own outside in her yard. She created a place she loved to serve the people she loved until her passing on Sunday, January 28, 2024.

          Along with her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her sister, Delois M. Hall.

          Leaving to cherish her memory is her husband, Sherman Peterman; her daughters, Anita White (Howard) and Mellanease Spann; her sons, Daniel Mitchell, Sherman Peterman, Jr. and LaCarson Peterman; her grandchildren, Wakeelah Glanton (Dexter), Jameelah Christopherson (Michael), Miguel Mitchell (Clarecea), Jaleesa Peterman, Schareeka Lawrence, Kayla Sidney (Terrell), Jamika Watson (Caitlin), Chantae Peterman, Mirakkus Peterman, Jacelyn Mitchell, Jada Mitchell, Makayla White, Kamrin Peterman, LaCarla Peterman, Jaidan Mitchell, Rochelle Freeman, and King Mitchell; her sisters, Gwendolyn Sheckles, Gail Nelson, Maxine Hinton, and Deborah Mitchell; her Goddaughter, Anna Ward; along with a host of her great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
