Mary Sherrel Skipper

August 23, 1938 to March 21, 2019

 

Mary Sherrel Skipper, a resident of Big Creek, died Thursday evening, March 21, 2019, in Hartford, AL. She was surrounded by her family.  She was 80. 

A memorial service will be held at Big Creek United Methodist Church at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 30, 2019.

 

Sherrel was born in Houston County Alabama on August 23, 1938, and was reared in the Big Creek Community.  She was the daughter of the late Howell “Big Daddy” Branton and Estelle “Big Mama” Branton.  Sherrel was a retired teacher for the Dothan City School system.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby H. Skipper, daughter Mary Evangeline Greer and sister Barbara Sue Holland.

Surviving relatives include a sister Billie Joyce McLendon (Big Creek) two grandsons, Marcus Payne (Lily) Houston, TX, William Payne (Victoria) Mobile, AL, Jim Greer (son-in-law) and several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. 

The family would like to thank the awesome staff of Hartford Healthcare for their exceptional loving care and generous spirit.  And to the staff of Kindred Hospice of the loving care and support during this time.
