DOTHAN. . .Mary Wallace Sherlock, a resident of Dothan, died Thursday morning, December 15, 2022, in a Dothan hospital. She was 97.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, December 17, 2022, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Taylor Rutland and Reverend Bob Gross officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 P.M. Saturday at the mortuary in Headland.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Dothan, 300 West Main Street, Dothan, AL 36301; or Wiregrass Area Food Bank, 382 Twitchell Road, Dothan, AL 36303 or to House of Ruth, c/o Remona Nall,  P.O. Box 968, Dothan, AL 36302.

Mrs. Sherlock was born and reared in Abbeville, daughter of the late James Huber Wallace and Robbie Saunders Wallace. She was a 1942 graduate of Abbeville High School, attended Riley Business College in Dothan and also Huntingdon College in Montgomery. Mrs. Sherlock lived in several locations in the United States and the Philippine Islands while her husband served in the U. S. Air Force. She and her husband moved to Dothan in 1972. Mrs. Sherlock was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dothan, the Retired Military Officers Wives Club and the Panama Canal Wives Club, Westgate Aquasize Family and Daughters of American Revolution. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Hazen “Bill” Sherlock, (Lt. Colonel, U. S. Air Force, Retired), two sons, William Hazen Sherlock, Jr. and James Earl Sherlock, two grandsons, Scott Sherlock and Anthony Sherlock, and a brother, Ike Saunders Wallace.

Surviving relatives include a daughter, Tomi Sherlock (Steve Preston), Dothan; a son, Ike Wallace Sherlock (Jennifer), Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Jim Sherlock (Pam), Tammy Sherlock Worthing (Ken), Luke Reaves (Taron), Hazen Sherlock and Connor Sherlock; great-grandchildren, Will Sherlock and Elizabeth Sherlock.
