Matthew Lance Thomas, Jr.

Matthew Lance Thomas, Jr., a resident of Midland City, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at a local hospital. He was 20 years old.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 pm on Tuesday.

Matthew was born on August 14, 2001 in Dale County and lived there all his life. He was a 2020 graduate from Dale County High School. Matthew was employed with Panda Express. He loved his mother’s cooking, especially her pinto beans, lima beans and rice. His favorite snack was eating dill pickles and sometimes making Kool-Aid pickles. Matthew will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Linda Bell, James Flowers and Steve Thomas.

Survivors include his mother, Cristy Flowers (Undra Jackson); father, Matthew Lance Thomas, Sr. (April Thomas); brothers, Antonio Flowers, Deventa Kirkland and Ronchea Jackson; sisters, Kayla Thomas, Chloe Thomas and Maddie Thomas; grandmother, Janet Thomas; aunts and uncles, Marva (Anthony) Bell, Kimberly (James) Wynn, Dee (Chad) Sanders, Shanika (Willie) Wells and Richard Flowers; nephews, Kaiden, Amir, Kylen and AJ, Jr.; cousins, Keona, Jacob, Damion, Lamar and Charles; his fiancé, Rebecca Starling; and his best friend, Shuntavious Berry.
