Mr. Matthew “Matt” David Miatke, age 43, a resident of Dothan, passed away Friday, May 19, 2023, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, surrounded by his loving family.


A Celebration of Life will be held at the Church at the Crossing, 231 W Main Street, Dothan, AL. 36301 on Saturday, May 27th, 2023, from 3–6 pm. Matt was working to fill a change jar for Lifted Higher Ministries, and we would love to complete this for him, please bring any loose change you would like to part with to help us achieve this goal.

Matt was born on September 9, 1979, in Sterling, Illinois, the son of Donald Eugene Miatke and Virginia “Jenny” Lee Kimbler Miatke. Throughout his childhood, he lived in Kansas, Illinois, Ohio, and North Carolina with his family during his father’s military career. He graduated from Morrison High School in Morrison, Illinois in 1997. Matt worked in construction work, at a feed mill and found his passion in the agriculture field working at Birkey’s Farm Store, a Case IH dealer for 17 years before he moved to Dothan. He has worked for Kingline Equipment as the Service Director for the past 5 years. Matt was an active member of Church at the Crossing. He loved hunting, all things outdoors, working on tractors and cars, and helping anyone when they needed it.


He was proceeded in death by his German exchange son, Phillip.


Matt was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by his wife of 18 years, Charity Miatke; 3 biological children Ethan (21), Isaiah (17), and Gabryel (16); 8 Foreign Exchange children, Tracy, Marta, Karin, Adrian, Luis, Koen, Pascal, and Sondre; Parents, Donald Eugene Miatke and Virginia “Jenny” Lee Kimbler Miatke; a brother Donnie Miatke, Jr. (Kelli), Ozark; a sister, Melissa Olexa (Tim), Wentzville, MO; and a Grand Pup “Chubbs”.
