BLUE SPRINGS. . .Max LaDon Helms, a resident of Blue Springs, died early Sunday morning, January 30, 2022, in a Dothan hospital. He was 74.

            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 2, 2022, in the Pine Level Baptist Church with Pastor Jason Waddell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday in the sanctuary of the Pine Level Baptist Church. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. Social distancing and mask guidelines will be observed.

            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Resource Center, P.O. Box 1170, Dothan, AL 36302.

            Max Helms was a lifelong resident of Blue Springs, son of the late Talmadge Helms and Maggie Pippins Helms. He was a member of  the Pine Level Baptist Church. Max was engaged in farming all his adult lifetime. He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Portwood Helms and a sister, Hilda Helms Long.

            Surviving relatives include three daughters, Janet Evans, (Lee), Ariton; Lisa Fisher (Heath), and Jennifer Casteel (Brandon), all of Blue Springs; eight grandchildren, Nash Evans, Austin Evans, Avery Evans, Ethan Fisher, Emma Fisher, Katherine Fisher, Novalee Casteel and Cody Casteel; a brother-in-law, LaDon Portwood (Diane), Ozark; a niece and four nephews.
