Michael "Mike" Donald Mowry, a gentle giant known for his warm presence and infectious humor, passed away on March 3, 2024, in Dothan, Alabama. Born in Lynn, Massachusetts, on October 22, 1968, Mike's journey of 55 years was marked by love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to his family and friends.

Mike proudly served in the United States Navy for four years and was a part of the crew that worked on the USS Iowa in the 1980s. His commitment to his country was a defining aspect of his life, and the discipline and skills he acquired during his service carried over into his civilian career. After his honorable discharge, he transformed his passion for mechanics into a successful career by obtaining his certification as an airplane mechanic. For two decades, Mike served as a helicopter mechanic at Fort Rucker, where he was respected and admired by his colleagues for his expertise and work ethic. He retired from this role, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and camaraderie.

Known affectionately as "Big Mike," he was a man whose stature was matched only by his enormous heart. To his family, Mike was more than just a relative; he was a pillar of strength, a source of wisdom, and a beacon of joy. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Ayla Lee and her husband, Travis, and his cherished son, Michael Mowry. Mike's memory will also be treasured by his loving brother, Stephen Mowry and his wife, Claire, his sisters, Robin Gage and her husband, Jason and Linda Mowry and her wife, Lisa, and his adored grandchild, Adler Lee. His presence will be deeply missed by his many loving nieces and nephews. Mike was predeceased by his parents, Clarence Albert Mowry Jr and Olga Yozura, who instilled in him the values of family and hard work.

A resident of Dale County since 1990, Mike's passion for life extended beyond his professional achievements. He was an ardent fan of the Boston Bruins and the New England Patriots, his loyalty to his hometown teams never wavering despite the miles between them. Mike's love for motorcycles was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his adventurous spirit and his appreciation for the open road.

Those who knew Mike will remember him as a man who embodied the attributes of being loving, funny, and incredibly handy. He could fix nearly anything, a talent that he generously used to help others. His sense of humor was a gift that he shared freely, leaving a trail of laughter wherever he went.

As we bid farewell to Mike, we reflect on the joy he brought into our lives and the indelible impact he made on the hearts of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy will continue to inspire us, and his memory will be cherished for generations to come. Mike Mowry's life was a journey of purpose, kindness, and laughter, and though he has left this world, the stories and memories will remain as vibrant and comforting as ever.
