MICHAEL JAMES WILCOX


HEADLAND.…Michael James Wilcox, a resident of Headland, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at his home. He was 74.


            Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M. (E.S.T.) December 11, 2020, at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, with Brother Vance Prescott officiating. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.


            Mr. Wilcox was born in Steele, Alabama, to the late James Calvin Wilcox and Mary Jo McKay Wilcox. He lived in Talladega, Alabama before moving to Lakeland, Florida.  Mr. Wilcox moved to Headland, Alabama 34 years ago. He was a 1964 Graduate of Kathleen High School in Lakeland, Florida and graduated from Georgia State University. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He worked with Great Southern Paper Mill (presently - Georgia Pacific) before working and retiring from Weyerhaeuser and International Paper Company. He and his wife, Sadie, loved to travel. Nowhere in particular, just get up and go on a spur of the moment, and see where they end up. He was a beloved Husband, Father, and Grandpa.


            Leaving to cherish his memories are his wife of fifty-five years, Sadie Wilcox; his daughter, Amy Wilcox Gover (Steve) of Headland, AL; his son, Greg Wilcox (Christie) of Birmingham, Alabama; his beloved grandchildren, Taylor Gover, Bryce Gover, and John Michael Wilcox; his sisters, Donis Nichols, Jane Corbin (Dennis), and Charlene Morris; and several nieces and nephews.
