A celebration of Michael’s life will be held at 12 pm on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Edenfield officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday following the services in the reception center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Children’s Hospital of Alabama, 1600 7th Avenue, South, Birmingham, AL 35233 or to a charity of your choice.
Michael Wesley Roberts, a resident of Midland City, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Southeast Health in Dothan, AL. He was 72 years old.
Michael was born on March 22, 1951 in Birmingham, AL where he spent much of his adult life. He has lived in Midland City, AL since 2008. Having the gift of gab, he found success as a salesman for floral sales across the southeast. Michael appreciated a good steak on the grill, and good conversation, especially anything sports related. He loved Auburn sports, especially Pat Dye coached football, Atlanta Braves baseball and who could forget his love of the Master’s Golf Tournament. He rose early and enjoyed a good cup of coffee on the patio as the sun rose. Michael was a good friend in all seasons, devoted husband, father, and “Pops”. He enjoyed conversations with his florist customers. Michael always brought home their jokes or their recommendations for a remedy for what ailed him. He couldn’t defend the reason he took different supplements other than a customer told him it was a good for him.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Lamar Roberts and Nellie Jo Greek Roberts, his brother, Joel Roberts, his sister, Susan Roberts Hayes.
Survivors include his wife of almost 49 years, Belinda Byrd Roberts; his daughters, Kimberly Roberts, Birmingham, AL, Kellie (Josh) Alvis, Midland City, AL; his grandchildren, Gabe and Hannah Alvis, Midland City, and Cameron Roberts, Birmingham, AL; his brother, Pud (Judy) Roberts; his sisters-in-law, Connie Byrd, Midland City and Linda Roberts, Birmingham; his brother-in-law, Tom Hayes; and several nieces and nephews.
