Mildred “Mickie” Evelyn Brooks Perry passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, July 4.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Searcy Funeral Home & Crematory in Enterprise, AL, with Rev. Randall Pearson officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes (325 Ross Clark Circle, Dothan, AL 36301), Make-A-Wish Alabama (1 Perimeter Park S Suite 100S, Birmingham, AL 35243), or Hope for Autumn Foundation (3722 Chalybe Walk, Hoover, AL 35226).

Mickie was born in Corpus Christi, TX on October 5,1942 to the late James and Miriam Brooks.  She was the oldest of three children and is survived by her siblings Beverly Kaker and Allen Brooks.  Mickie is preceded in death by her husband John Perry. Mickie loved children and family which is evident in the legacy of 9 children, 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren she created.  Her children Brenda Bradshaw, Michelle Bennett, Ray Woolley, Deborah Stinson, Liz Jones, Jeanne Laxton, James Perry, Sandra Harlow, and Ben Perry will continue to carry out her legacy of love.

Mickie was passionate about helping others.  She never met a stranger and had a natural ability to make others feel loved.  She was “Mom” to so many other than her biological children.   Giving back to her community was important to Mickie.  She volunteered in organizations such as The Lions Club, Boy/Girl Scouts, and the school community.  Passionate about equality, Mickie was proud to have been the first woman mechanic in a 5-county area in south Florida in the 1960s.
