   Miss Elsie McRae “Betsy” Smith, a resident of the Campground Community of Ozark, passed away Friday, February 24, 2023. She was 93 years old.


   Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 27, 2023, from Camp Ground Baptist Church with Reverend Merrell Henry officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.


   The family will receive friends in the church Monday from 9:30 A.M. until service time.


   Miss Smith was born December 24, 1929 in Ozark, Alabama to the late James Ramsey Smith and Eulalia Andrews Smith. She graduated from Ozark High School and worked with V. J. Elmore Store in Ozark. Elsie graduated from St. Margaret School of Nursing in Montgomery as a Registered Nurse. She worked with Dale County Hospital in Ozark for over thirty years until her retirement. She was a very active life-long member of Camp Ground Baptist Church in Ozark. Elsie was a very compassionate person who enjoyed taking care of people. She enjoyed working in the yard, cooking, college football, the Atlanta Braves, the Hallmark Channel and the Andy Griffith Show.


   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Ralph “Buddy” Smith; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Smith; nephew, Jerry Sellers; first cousins, Toni Juneau (Ken) and Jim Crumpler.


   Survivors include her sister, Janet Sellers of Virginia Beach, Virginia; nieces, Ginger Dean (Donnie) of Wicksburg, Elizabeth Bailey (Don) of Greenville, South Carolina, Patti Metzger (Jack) of Valley Center, California; three special first cousins who were like sisters, Charlotte Hughes (Tony), Carolyn Sue Johnson (Bill) and Cindy Brasher (Keith) all of Ozark.


   Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in her memory to Camp Ground Baptist Church, 3898 Andrews Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
