Mr. Ben Ford Tyler, a resident of Lillian, Alabama passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at HCA Florida West Hospital in Pensacola, Florida surrounded by his loving family. He was 73 years old.


Funeral services will be held Friday, September 23, 2022, at 10:00 central time at Centerville United Methodist Church in Blakely, Georgia with Scott Overby officiating and Glover Funeral Home of Eufaula directing. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held Thursday, September 22, 2022, at Glover Funeral Home in Eufaula from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. central time. Flowers will be accepted.


Ben was born March 6, 1949, in the Wheelock Mission Parsonage in Millerton, Oklahoma to the late Jimmie Joe Tyler Sr. and Edith Elaine Ballard Faries. He was a graduate of Valliant High School. He was a proud Vietnam veteran of the United States Navy where he served his country. Ben was retired from CB&I Services where he worked as a boilermaker for many years and was a member of the Boilermakers Union. Upon retirement Ben was able to work several years with four of his children at McInnis Construction in Montgomery, AL. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family. He was known as a hardworking man that could build anything. Most of all he loved his children and grandchildren and spending time with them. He was of the Baptist faith.


He is preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Linda Tyler; stepfather, Bill Faries; daughter, Stacey Tyler; two brothers, Ronald Tyler and Jimmie R. Tyler.


Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of nearly 46 years, Mamie Gowan Tyler; three sons, Ty Joe Tyler (Lara) of Bakerhill, AL, Travis Tyler (Lindsay) of Lillian, AL, Joshua Tyler (Jordan) of Trussville, AL; granddaughter, Kayla Tyler DeHart (Dan) of Hendersonville, TN; four brothers, Lance Tyler Sr. of Swink, OK, Tommy Tyler of Millerton, OK, Jimmie Joe Tyler Jr. of Millerton, OK, and Mickey Faries of Houston, TX; three sisters, Peggy Tyler of McLoud, OK, LeeJay Eckhardt of Vian, OK, and Renee Childers (Kirk) of Rattan, OK; grandchildren,  Caleb Tyler, Brody Tyler, Josie Tyler, Bailey Tyler, Bennett Tyler, Blakely Tyler, and Gabriel Tyler; four great-grandchildren, Mason DeHart, Staci Madelyn DeHart, Mia Grace DeHart, and Charlotte Tyler; several nieces and nephews.


Asked to serve as pallbearers are Caleb Tyler, Brody Tyler, Bennett Tyler, Dan DeHart, Dylan Gulledge, Logan Shirah, Michael McCraney, and Jason Guice.


Honorary pallbearers will be all of Mr. Ben’s nephews.
