Obituary: Mr. Billy Jack Saunders

 

Mr. Billy “Jack” Saunders of Malvern passed away Saturday, December 25, 2021 at Flowers Hospital. He was 81. 

A Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2021   in the Purvis Cemetery with Brother Hosea Parker officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. 

After the service and at other times the family will be at the home of Billy and Betty, 156 Cohen Road, Slocomb, AL 36375. 

Mr. Saunders was born October 5, 1940 in Geneva County to the late Cohen and Mildred Collins Saunders. Mr. Saunders was a loving husband, father, PaPa, and friend. He loved trucking, farming and his cows. He enjoyed telling his stories to anyone that would listen. Mr. Saunders will be dearly missed. 

In addition to his parents, sisters: Marie Thomas Peterman, Burma Proctor and special friend; Rudy Robbinette, all preceded him in death. 

Survivors include his loving wife. Betty Jean McGowan Saunders, daughter, Anita Saunders; son, Chris Saunders, grandchildren: Heather Harbert, Brittany Carter (Adam), and Cohen Saunders; brother, Bruce Saunders (Melonie); several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends. 

Serving as pallbearers: Kenny Williams, Joe Sellers, Dusty Sellers, JC Sellers, Will Connley, and Tommy Bradley.
