Mr. Billy James Chance, age 79, a resident of Clayton, died Friday, March 6, 2020 at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, Alabama.

Memorial services for Mr. Chance will be held at a later date.

Mr. Chance was born on May 18, 1940 in Louisville, Alabama the son of Randolph Dowlen and Susie Adell Joyner Chance.  Mr. Chance was a United States Navy Reserve veteran. He practiced law for twenty-five years in North Carolina and also lived in Russell County, Alabama for twenty-two of those twenty-five years. He was also a resident of Orlando and Deltona, Florida. He moved back to Clayton, Alabama in 2016. He loved woodworking, his cats and dogs, and his Native American Ancestry.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jean Chance Dillard.

Survivors include:  wife of 22 years, Rita Vossburg Chance of Clayton. 3 sons, Christopher Chance, Adam Chance, and Anthony Chance; 3 daughters, Lucy Hurst, Deborah Sue Chance, and Jessica Chance; 2 sisters, Carlen Pettigrew and Joanne Calub; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
