Mr. Bobby (Curly) Simmons of Hartford passed away February 14, 2012 at the family residence.  He was 73.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, in Sardis Church with Rev. Gary Armstrong and Rev. Scott Terrell officiating.  Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. Mr. Simmons will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time.  In lieu of flowers, the family requested that memorial contributions be made to Sardis Church Building Fund, 649 County Road 67, Hartford, AL  36344. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. 

Mr. Simmons was born on November 12, 1938 in Geneva County, AL to the late Hosea and Florence Cotton Simmons.  He was a member of Sardis Church. 

Two sisters, Ruby Byrd and Hazel Massey, as well as a brother, Jake Simmons, preceded him in death. 

Survivors include his wife of 54 years:  Julia Simmons of Hartford; two daughters:  Joan Langford (Mike) of Hartford, Sherri Pouncey (Ken) of Enterprise; two sons:  Kevin Simmons and Keith Simmons of Hartford; two brothers:  Earl Simmons of Taylor, Jimmy Simmons of Echo; one sister:  Autense Wilson of Hunter Town, IN; seventeen grandchildren:  Kyrstal, Brian, Blake and Trenton Simmons, Jason  Langford (Amber), Keaton Daw (Brooke), Kacie Daw, Kayla Broten (Erik), Lisa Cotton (Chris), Samantha and Andrew Bowman, Sunny and Jon Daw; six great grandchildren:  Abby, Kayden, Katie, Grey, Emmie and Truitt; son-in-law:  Matt Bowman; several nieces and nephews.
