Carl Clive Upton, Jr., 81, husband of Doris “Dolly” Frazier Upton died Friday, March 6, 2015, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

 

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2015 in Clearman Chapel of Southern Heritage Funeral Home with Reverend James Lendon Scott, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the services at the funeral home.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 1550 Parramore Road, Dothan, AL 36303 or to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, AL 36303.

 

Born in Bakersville, NC, Carl was a son of the late Carl Clive and Lillian Sparks Upton, Sr. Carl was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and worked as a wholesale salesman in the interior design of businesses and with Georgia Pacific Papermill prior to his retirement. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Upton was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Jean Upton; two brothers, Lawrence Howard Upton and Harley Wayne Upton; two sisters, Mary Kathleen Cook and Pauline Mavis Hudson and a brother-in-law Douglas Huffstetler.

 

Surviving in addition to his wife “Dolly” are a son and daughter-in-law, David Lee (Joanne) Upton, Mobile, AL; three daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa Gail Upton (Mury) Salls, Orlando, FL, Catherine Elaine Upton (Randall) Bogart and Sandra Kaye Upton (Bernard) Quinnelly all of Lee’s Summit, MO; a sister, Wanda Huffstetler, Dallas, NC; two sisters-in-law, Mary Tucker Upton, Gastonia, NC and Desma G. Upton, Stanley, NC; seventeen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
