Mr. Carl N. Bowen, 87, of Cottonwood, Alabama, died Saturday, August 25, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2012 in Clearman Chapel of Southern Heritage Funeral Home with Reverend Marrell Turvin officiating. Burial will follow in Howard Grove Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Born in Houston County, Alabama, Carl was a son of the late John Wesley and Lela Jernigan Bowen. He was a farmer and worked as the custodian at Ashford High School until his retirement. He is a member of Love Hill Assembly of God Church.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Bowen was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.

Surviving are a son, Steve (Shelia) Bowen, Columbia, Al; three daughters, Gail (Joe) Cameron, Andalusia, AL, Janice Poole, Cottonwood, AL, Kathy (Dan Snider) Gibson, Dothan, AL; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
