Mr. Carlton H. Crutchfield of Dothan passed away Thursday, January 12, 2023, at a local hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was 82 years old.


Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M Monday, January 16, 2023, at Ward Wilson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M until 11:00 A.M Monday at the funeral home.


Mr. Carlton was born in Marianna, FL to the late Henry Crutchfield and Lilla Gay Crutchfield on August 17, 1940. Carlton was a 1958 graduate of Grand Ridge High School where he played varsity basketball. He spent over 40 plus combined years working for the Dothan Eagle and the Floridian newspapers before retirement. Carlton was a brilliant and creative professional photographer, with work ranging from weddings to nature. In his downtime, Carlton enjoyed traveling in his RV with his wife, being a master gardener, doing woodturning, and volunteering at the Botanical Gardens in Dothan and the voting polls at the Houston County Farm Center.


In addition to his parents, Carlton was preceded in death by his sisters, Carrieann Hanna and Doris Wagner; brothers, Billy Gay Crutchfield and Earlston Crutchfield; and daughter-in-law, Lorelei Crutchfield.


Left to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 37 years, Jean Weekley Crutchfield; sons, Ken Crutchfield (Patty) and Tim Crutchfield (Flor); daughters, Doreen Crutchfield Kendrick (Donnie) and Karen Crutchfield Crews (Randy); stepsons, Curtis Rider (Teresa) and Robin Rider; grandchildren, Allison Jackson (Jimmy), Cameron Crutchfield, Bradley Crutchfield (Victoria), Brittany Bellflower (Casey), Stacey Worthington, Cole Crutchfield, Kyleish Crutchfield, Heather Ramer (Allen), and Mindy Tomberling; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Nadine Newsome and Eunice Martin; and several other family members and friends.
