ECHO COMMUNITY… Mr. Charles G. Gunter, a resident of the Echo Community, near Ozark, died Saturday morning, August 21, 2021, in the emergency room of Dale Medical Center. He was 84.


            Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 24, 2021, in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, between Ozark and Echo, with Reverend Dr. Billy Gaither and Reverend Darin Easter officiating. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends following the graveside service.


            Flowers will be accepted.


            Mr. Gunter, son of the late Charlie Gunter and Bessie Gunter, was a native and lifelong resident of Ozark. In earlier years, he owned and operated a bulldozer and landscaping company. Mr. Gunter was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired in 2006 from Ft. Rucker as a maintenance supervisor. Mr. Gunter was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Jean Riley German Gunter, Ozark; daughter, Shannon Harris (Jack), Skipperville; son, Lee Gunter, Ozark; step-children, Lana Garner (Paul), Ozark and Amy Enfinger (Tommy), Hartford; sister-in-law, Gayle Snell (James), New Brockton; mother of his children, Peggy Hagler Gunter, Ozark.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Timmy McDaniel, Lee Peak, James Snell, Kevin Snell, Paul Garner, and Tommy Enfinger.
