NEWTON…Mr. Clarence “Bub” Pearce, Jr., a resident of Newton, died Saturday morning, July 17, 2021, at the home of his sister in Newton. He was 88.


            There are no public services planned at this time. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.


            Mr. Pearce, son of the late Clarence Leroy Pearce, Sr., and Emma Virginia Scotton Pearce, was a native of Baltimore, Maryland. He formerly lived in Polk City, Florida before moving to Newton in January 2021. Mr. Pearce was retired as a building contractor and was a veteran of the United States Army, helping to rebuild France following World War II. He was preceded in death by his wives, Barbara Pearce and Betty Lucas Pearce; two daughters, Connie and Donnie Pearce; a brother, Wade Winslow Pearce.


            Surviving relatives include his two sisters, Barbara Virginia Pearce, New York and Sue O. Dobbs, Newton; a granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.
