Mr. Clarence G. Baine, a lifelong resident of Samson, passed away Tuesday afternoon at Wiregrass Medical Center in Geneva.  He was 90.


 Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2012 at First Assembly of God in Samson with the Rev. Jimmy Eddins officiating.  Burial will follow in Travelers' Rest Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  At all other times, the family will be at the home of Roger and Sherry Baine, 411 N. Johnson St., Samson.  Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of First Assembly of God, 113 S. Jordan St., Samson, AL  36477.


 Mr. Baine was born March 15, 1921 to the late James (Jim) Abraham and Emma Frances Dean Baine in Samson.  A World War II veteran, he was retired from the City of Samson after almost 40 years of service and was an avid gardener.  Mr. Baine was a lifelong member of First Assembly of God in Samson.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Millie Phillips Baine, his loving wife of 64 years, Louise Quiller Baine, his infant son, Billy Joe Baine, three sisters, Myrtie Phillips, Jessie Miller, Clara Ward (his twin), and three brothers, Early Baine, Clifton Baine and Willard Baine. 


 Survivors include one daughter, JoAnne Ireland and her husband Danny of Tampa, Florida, two sons, Mickey Baineand his wife Margaret (Oodie) of Geneva, Roger Baine and his wife Sherry of Samson, one sister, Lillie Mae Holley of Samson, two brothers, Bill Baine and his wife Vera of Samson, Benny Baine and his wife Dorothy of Samson, four grandsons, Steve Baine and his wife Lisa of Samson, Tim Ireland and his wife Alison of Tampa, Florida, Chris Ireland of Tampa, Florida, Jake Baine of Geneva, three granddaughters, Traci Greene and her husband David of Samson, Adair McDonald and her husband Brian of Dothan, Katie Speigner and her husband Luke of Geneva, eleven great-grandchildren, Stephen Baine, Dylan Harty, Emma and Ella Greene  all of Samson, Natasha Greene of Bethel Springs, Tennessee, Michael and Aaron Ireland of Tampa, Florida, John and Liam McDonald of Dothan, Lucas and Leila Speigner of Geneva, and several nieces and nephews.


 The family would like to thank the staff of Wiregrass Nursing Home in Geneva for their many years of love and care.
