OZARK…Mr. Clyde Sidney Tullos, Sr., a resident of Ozark, died early Monday evening, April 15, 2024, in Encompass Health in Dothan. He was 93.


            Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, April 22, 2024, at Ozark Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Eric Fuller officiating. Graveside services will follow at 4:00 P.M. Monday in Dunn’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Echola Community, near Tuscaloosa with Reverend Jonathan Brown officiating. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 A.M. Monday at the church.


            Mr. Tullos was a loved great grandfather, grandfather, father, brother, husband, and uncle. He was born February 9, 1931, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and graduated from Murphy High School in 1949. Mr. Tullos joined the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. Following his military service, he returned to Tuscaloosa and attended the University of Alabama where he met his future wife, Mary Frances Griffin and was married on September 1, 1957. They welcomed his first born, Clyde Sidney Tullos, Jr. in 1959 and his second son, John E. Tullos in 1961. Mr. Tullos worked at Brookly Field in Mobile until he moved to Ozark in 1966. He worked at ETV at Fort Rucker (now Fort Novosel) and progressed to DPT Director where he retired in 1993.


            Following his retirement, he spent his time volunteering in Crossover Ministries in Opp, Alabama. He was a member of the Ozark Baptist Church for over fifty-five years. Mr. Tullos was proud to be from the pioneering White Family of Tuscaloosa County, and especially his grandfather, William White, whose kindness, patience, and Christian charity influenced him his entire life. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Ben Tullos, Sr. and Beatrice White Tullos; his wife of fifty-nine years, Mary Frances Griffin Tullos, siblings, John Ben Tullos, Jr., Billy Jay Tullos, George Dewey Tullos, and William (Lee) Tullos.


            Surviving relatives include his sons, Sidney Tullos and John Tullos (Kathryn), Knoxville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Dakotah Presley (Brandon) and John Tullos, Jr. (Emma); great-grandchildren, Mary Presley and Ada Tullos; brother-in-law, Bobby Griffin, Tuscaloosa; nieces, Frances Tullos Anderson and Denise Neal; nephews, Scott Griffin, Jason Griffin, and Jay Tullos; great-nieces, JuneFrances Anderson and Elizabeth Anderson; great-nephew, John Robert Anderson; first cousin, Barbara Matthew.


            Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ken “Brock” Wells, Bob Bunting (Colonel, United States Army, Retired), Bobby Griffin, Bob Elia, Allen Henderson, Scott Griffin, Jason Griffin, Dr. Robert J. Kreutzmann, John Obermiller, Quincey Sullivan, Ralph Walker and Mel McLemore.
