Mr. Dallas Neal Vickers, Sr. passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Bay Medical Center in Panama City, FL. He was 87. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 2, 2012 at the Geneva First United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Lawler and Rev. Bill Kidwell officiating. Burial will follow with military honors in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the Church Sunday beginning at 1:00 p.m.


 Mr. Vickers was born on May 20, 1925 in Geneva County, Alabama.  He served his country in the US Navy during WWII and the US Army during the Korean War.  He graduated with honors from the University of Alabama in 1950.  Mr. Vickers retired from NASA where he worked on the propulsion systems for the Apollo Moon Missions and the Space Shuttle Program.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Fletcher S. and Maudrine Sizemore Vickers; wife, Mary Alice Vickers; and three brothers, Jack Vickers, Dr. William E. Vickers and Dr. Windell Vickers.


 He is survived by his three daughters, Debra Celeste York (David) of Tuscaloosa, Mary Jane Capron (A. Daniel) of Concord, NC and Verita Leigh Driskell (Charles) of Panama City Beach, FL; son, Dallas Neil Vickers, Jr. of Decatur, AL; seven grandchildren, Megan, Chris, Steve, Kaitlin, Mary Elise, Zach and Will; brother, Steve Vickers and wife, Sarah Kathryn of Geneva; and numerous nieces and nephews.
