Mr. Darrell Andrew (Andy) Barrett passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at a local hospital following a brief illness.
The funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, January 20, 2024 with Reverend Alan Bryan and Reverend Steve Skidmore officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until 11 AM, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Andy was born January 12, 1961, in Orlando, FL to Bobby Darrell and Mary Garner Barrett. He was an active member of Cloverdale Baptist Church where he served as an ordained Deacon and with the Sound Ministry.
He was a 1979 graduate of Dothan High School. He graduated from Troy University with a bachelor’s degree in computer science.
For the past 16 years, he worked with West Florida Electric Cooperative in Graceville, FL where he served as Information Services Coordinator.
He enjoyed serving in the church, spending time with his family, being with his friends at work, gardening, and Troy Football.
He was pre-deceased by his father Bobby Barrett.
He is survived by his daughters and their spouses - Elana and Joshua Worth, Hazlehurst, GA and Diana and Will Denison of Troy, AL; 6 grandchildren – Nolan Andrew, Hudson, and Barrett Worth; Brody, Briggs, and Mary Oliver Denison; the mother of his children – Sherry Barrett; - his mother Mary Barrett; brother and sister-in-law Roger and Kaye Barrett, Niceville, FL; two nephews and their families – Rev David Barrett, Sunnyvale, TX; and Mark Barrett, Orlando, FL; and numerous cousins.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sound Ministry of Cloverdale Baptist Church, 806 Dexter St., Dothan, AL 36301.
