Mr. David Junior West of Cottonwood passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the age of 90.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Sunday, January 13, 2019 at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend John Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Cottonwood City Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 to 2 PM Sunday, prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted.  The family will be gathered at other times at 12254 Cottonwood Road, Cottonwood, AL.

Mr. West was born October 9, 1928 to the late Brannon W. West and Georgia Williams West. He played basketball at Chipola College for 2 years on a basketball scholarship. He coached Little League Baseball and was a Trustee for the Houston County School System. He was a member of the Cottonwood City Council and also a member of the Civic Club. He was a member of First Baptist Church Cottonwood where he served as Deacon for over 60 years and also taught Sunday School. He owned for over 40 years a livestock company in Cottonwood, taking over from his father Brannon West.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Lillian West, his children Beverly Knapp (David), Stanley West, Terri W. Sowell (Berry), his grandchildren, Stephanie Williamson (Pat), Mason Wright, Heath West (Lynsey), Josh West (Melissa), Colby Sowell and Casey Sowell Wolfe (Riley), nine great-grandchildren and his sisters June Austin (Larry), Linda Whitehead and Peggy Montoyo.

The family would like to thank Kindred Hospice and give a special thanks to Daniel Coachman.
