Don William Shealy, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2024, at the age of 84 in Dothan, Alabama. Born on December 9, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, Don's life was marked by his loving nature and courageous spirit, traits that deeply influenced everyone fortunate enough to know him.



Don proudly served his country for 20 years in the US Army, during which he completed two valorous tours in Vietnam. His dedication to service did not end with his military career; after retiring from the Army, he continued to protect and serve the community as a security guard at Farley Nuclear Plant. His commitment to hard work and responsibility was further exemplified in his years as a driver for Deanco, where he remained a steadfast and reliable member of the team for 10-12 years.

He leaves behind a legacy of strength and devotion in his beloved wife, Judy Shealy, with whom he shared a lifetime of cherished memories. His sister, Lynn Patterson; Don's children, Jimmy Don Shealy, Deborah Crabtree, and Johnnie William Shealy.


He is preceded in death by his two wives; parents, William and Ruth Shealy; and brother, Robert Lee Shealy.

As we say goodbye to Don William Shealy, we celebrate a life lived with honor and heart. His memory will be held dear not only by his family, but by all those whose lives he touched with his generous spirit and undaunted courage. Don's departure leaves a void in the lives of many, yet his influence remains as a guiding light and a source of comfort. His was a life well-lived and he will be profoundly missed.


Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Hall and Pastor Mark Kocsis officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.


The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2 P.M. Tuesday, March 26, 2024, one hour prior to the service.


In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or to the Animal Shelter of your choice.
