Mr. Fox Crews of Samson passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2019.  He was 91.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Samson with Rev. Mike Shortt, officiating. Burial will follow at Travelers Rest Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson, directing.  The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 9:00 a.m.


Mr. Crews was born in Geneva County on August 13, 1927, to the late W.L. Crews and Ada Holley Crews.  He was a longtime member of Friendship Baptist Church.  He served in occupied Japan in the US Army at the end of WWII.  Prior to his retirement, Mr. Crews worked as a farmer for more than fifty years.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Nome Crews; three brothers, Wilmer “Cat” Crews Willie Lee “Bud” Crews, and Oliver D. Crews; and two sisters, Mary Lee Davis, and Katie Pearl Crews.


He is survived by two daughters, Sharon Hutto (Tommy) of Bethlehem, GA, and Melissa Frost (James) of Samson; son, Dewayne Crews of Samson; two grandchildren, Justin Crews and Rebekka Thames, both of Samson; seven great-grandchildren, Aiden Hudspeth, Gauge Thames, Mikayla Thames, William Thames, Eli Hughes, Mendel Crews, and Marcus Crews.
