Frank Thomas Barton, a resident of Dothan, Alabama, and formerly of Schaumburg, Illinois, passed  away Thursday, January 11, 2024, at his home. He was Fifty.


A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date in the Chicagoland area.


Frank was born on April 12, 1973, to Frank and JoAnne Kalish Barton in the great state of Illinois. He spent his formative years in Schaumburg, Illinois, graduating from Hoffman estates High School in 1992. Frank’s pursuit of knowledge led him to Illinois State University where he continued his education.


Frank was a dedicated professional who worked as a salesman for Cort Furniture in the northwest suburbs of Chicago before making the life-changing decision to relocate to the serene landscapes of the Florida Panhandle.


As a true sports enthusiast, he actively engaged in various sports during his formative years, displaying his passion for athleticism through endeavors such as baseball, cross country, and wrestling. His youthful spirit thrived on the challenges and camaraderie these sports offered. As he transitioned into adulthood, Frank’s unwavering loyalty to sports persisted. He continued to be a fervent supporter of the Chicago sports teams, finding joy in following their triumphs and challenges. His enduring love for sports became a cornerstone of his identity, connecting him to the teams he cherished and the community of fans who shared in his enthusiasm.


Frank always exhibited exceptional compassion and commitment during challenging times. He played a pivotal role in the clean up efforts following Hurricane Michael, timelessly dedicating 12-14 hour days to assist in restoring the Florida Panhandle. His selfless contributions left an indelible mark on the communities he served.


He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Frank and Anne Barton; and his maternal grandparents, John and Ruth Kalish.


Left to cherish his memories is his parents; a son, Nicholas Barton; two sisters, Gail Payton (Mark) and Christine Chomos (Bill); two nephews, Matt Payton and Stephen Chomos (Lydia); two nieces, Sam Payton and Abby Chomos; along with numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends.


May Frank Thomas Barton rest in eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire love and kindness in the hearts of those who knew him.
