            Mr. George Lamar Sullivan of Hartford passed away Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Campbellton-Graceville Hospital.  He was 88.

Funeral services will be held at Pondtown United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 with Rev. Donna Cumbie and Rev. Neal Brown officiating.   Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pondtown United Methodist Church Building Fund. 

Mr. Sullivan was born on October 26, 1923 in Geneva County, AL to the late Gerald Dewey and Cleopatra Hatcher Sullivan.  He attended Poundtown United Methodist Church.  The first few years of his adult life was spent serving in the U.S. Navy where he trained as a dental assistant.  Upon his return home to Hartford, he spent the rest of his life with the exception of the last three years.  He entered the family business with his father erecting windmills and also doing plumbing and electrical work.  Later on he was employed in the LP gas business for 20 years before he became employed with Anderson Peanut Company in Hartford, where he worked until his retirement.  Upon his retirement, one of his greatest joys was making chocolate fudge.  He became known fondly as “The Fudge Master.”  He spent countless hours making the sweet confection which he always gave to family and friends in the community.

is wife, Mary Louise Sullivan, one brother, Truett Sullivan, preceded him in death.

Survivors include one daughter: Mary Ann Fulford (Mack); two sons:  Bobby Sullivan (Kay) and Tim Sullivan (Kerri), all of Hartford; two brothers:  James Sullivan (Frances) of Pensacola FL, and Gerald D. Sullivan (Joan) of Huntsville; four grandchildren:  Wayland Fulford (Connie), Alana Adams (Jeff), Kade Sullivan and Zachary Sullivan; four great grandchildren:  Alyssa Bonner, Haylee Bonner, Hunter Adams and Madie Adams; sister-in-law:  Lorene Sullivan; several nieces and nephews.
