George Otis Cole, a resident of Dothan, died Monday December 19, 2011 at the home of a son in Florala, AL. He was 71.


Funeral services for Mr. Cole will be held at 10 AM Thursday December 22, 2011 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage with a eulogy given by Steve Cole. Burial with military honors will follow in Blakely City Cemetery with Southern Heritage directing. The family will receive friends from 5 PM until 7 PM Wednesday evening at Southern Heritage. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Wounded Warriors Project, 2115 Park Blvd., San Diego, CA 92101 or Arthritis Foundation, PO Box 7669, Atlanta, GA 30357-0669.


Mr. Cole was born August 25, 1940 in Blakely, Georgia to James Otis and Thelma Toole Cole. He joined the United States Navy at age 17 and spent four years serving our country. Mr. Cole returned home and began his truck driving career with AAA Cooper and WJ Powell. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing.


Mr. Cole is preceded in death by his wife, Nadine Cole.


Survivors include his children, James and Miranda Cole, Florala, Steve and Linda Cole, Dothan, Terri Grimes and Ronald Peters, Cowarts; step sons, Charles Ray and Kay Cochran, Cowarts, Kirby Pappas, Lockhart, AL; five grandchildren, Joshua and Jacob Cochran, George Pappas, Christian an Matthew Grimes; two sisters, Martha Jean Powell, Becky Pouncey, both of Dothan; brother, Michael Cole, Live Oak, FL.
