Mr. George Stephens, 92, of 904 Canterbury Drive passed away September 13, 2017.


 


Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 16 at 10:00 a.m. at Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward-Wilson Funeral Home directing and Pastor Stephen Russell is officiating.


 


Mr. Stephens was born in Clio, Alabama on May 13, 1925. He graduated from Wicksburg High School, and continued his studies at Birmingham Southern College. Mr. Stephens served in the U.S. Navy and Army during World War II and the Korean War.


 


In addition to serving his country, he was a licensed pilot in early years and enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson.  


 


Mr. Stephens was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Imogene Stephens., along with his mother, Cordelia Day Stephens McKeller and his father, John Calvin Stephens.


 


Survivors include three sons; George Gregory Stephens, Birmingham, James Ronald Stephens, Ashford, and John Ezra Stephens, Carterville, Ill.; one daughter, Deborah Horn, Dothan; three daughter-in-laws, Lynn Stephens, Birmingham, Leah I. Stephens, Ashford, and Karen Jennings, Carterville, Ill.; one son-in-law, Ken Horn, Dothan; three grandchildren, James Stephens, Nashville, Jackson Horn, Tuscaloosa and Caroline Horn, Dothan; one sister, Sue Stephens Gunderson , Vancouver, Washington.


 


The family would like to thank the loving staff of Whitehall Assisted Living and Extendicare.  We would also like to thank Dr. Chris Miller for his patience and kindness. 


 


In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in George’s memory to Central Baptist Church, 1812 Honeysuckle Rd. Dothan, AL  36305.
