MARLEY MILL COMMUNITY…Mr. George Wilton Peters, a resident of the Marley Mill Community, near Ozark, died Wednesday morning, January 12, 2022, at his home. He was 89.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 15, 2022, in the Ozark First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Brian Presley officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery in the Rocky Head Community. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the church.


            Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.


            Mr. Peters, son of the late Ernest R. “Doc” Peters and Oma Beasley Peters, was a native and lifelong resident of Ozark. He was retired from Ft. Rucker as a helicopter mechanic and was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Peters formerly served on the Dale County Water Authority Board. He was a member of the Ozark First Assembly of God Church. Mr. Peters was preceded in death by two brothers, Hilton Peters and Marlon Peters.


            Surviving relatives include his wife of fifty-eight years, Nell Allen Peters, Ozark; a daughter, Nancy Bewley (Doug), Harvest, AL; a son, George Peters (Hannah), Dothan; a sister, Jean Peters Marsh, Ozark; a brother, Vearl Peters (Brenda), Ozark; two grandchildren, Luke Peters and Jacob Bewley; several nieces and nephews.
