Gilliam Davie Carpenter, Jr.

1944-2022

 

Gilliam Davie Carpenter, Jr., 78, of Dothan, Alabama went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 13, 2022. Born on January 17, 1944, to Gilliam Davie Carpenter and Willie Pearl (Scott).

Junior was a Vietnam Veteran who proudly served his Country as a military policeman in the Army.

As a member of Cowarts Baptist Church, Junior spent a great deal of time faithfully serving others alongside his brothers and sisters in Christ.

Surviving family includes his wife Freddie Carpenter of 29 years; his sons, Gaines Bruce Carpenter (Amanda), Tallahassee, FL and Bobby Gilliam Carpenter (Keila), Tallahassee, FL, his daughters Jena Anderson (Dan), Andalusia, AL and Casey Johnston (Bryan), Panama City Beach, FL and his step-daughter Wendi Mills Vergos, Daphne, AL; grandchildren Alexis Miller (Kenyon) and Bryce Carpenter, Tallahassee, FL, Will Anderson and Drew Anderson, Andalusia, AL, Draven Quinn (Nick), Birmingham, AL and Kylie Johnston, Panama City Beach, FL; step grandsons Trystan Skelton, Auburn, AL and Cameron Vergos, Daphne, AL; step granddaughter Riley Elson, Tallahassee, FL; great grandson Landon Miller, Tallahassee, FL; brother, Terry Carpenter, Ozark, AL; sisters, Katrine Williams, Dothan, AL and Paula Brooks (Gerald), Havana, FL.

Junior was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Rodney Williams, brother Carlton and sister-in-law Kathy Carpenter.

Junior was a devoted Christian, who loved his Church, family, friends, and community.

Visitation will be held at Cowarts Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at 1:00 pm and the service at 2:00 pm. Afterwards, Junior will be laid to rest at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Headland, AL.

Pallbearers will be Travis Carpenter, Spencer Carpenter, Trystan Skelton, Cameron Vergos, Brody Goodman and Trey Dollar.  Honarary pallbearers will be Junior's Sunday School Classmates.
