Mr. Glenn Ellis Anderson a staple of the Cowarts community and a keystone of the building materials industry of Houston County, has returned home to our Lord. Glenn passed away Monday, June 27, 2022, at the age of 82.


Glenn and his wife, Ann, were partners or owners in multiple businesses involving lumber, paint, drywall, and insulation. During their 60-year marriage, they raised four children; enjoyed eight grandchildren, and loved six great-grandchildren. Glenn was a big supporter of Ashford Academy where he served on the Board of Directors for many years. He was also an avid Alabama Fan. Glenn was a member of Cowarts Baptist Church.


Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Friday, July 1, 2022, at Cowarts Baptist Church with Reverend Chris Dunnam officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.


The family will receive friends at the church from 1 to 2:30 P.M. Friday, July 1, 2022, prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Cowarts Baptist Church Building Fund.


Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Dessie Anderson; sisters and their spouses, Carolyn Kirkland (Lowell) and Faye Vann (Tommy); sister-in-law, Linda King Anderson; brother-in-law, Russell Ervin; niece, Leslie Renee Anderson; and daughter-in-law, Libby Bagwell.


Survivors include his wife, Ann W. Anderson; daughter, Kesha Ann Anderson; sons, Gerald Bagwell (Laura), Ryan Bagwell (Debbie), and Chadwick Anderson (April); brother, Lamar Anderson; grandchildren; Randy Bagwell, Shanna Jones, Jeremy Bagwell, Heather Tice, Chase Bagwell, Emily Anderson, Alyssa Anderson, Chandler Wilson; great-grandchildren, Kaia McCord, Trevor Jones, Trent Jones, Harrison Tice, Addy Bagwell, and Grayson Bagwell; sister-in-law, Doris Ervin; nieces, Karen Parson, Cheryl Crawford (Dexter), and Beth Ervin; nephews, Scott Ervin (Shawnna) and Lance Vann (Debra); several great nieces and nephews, as well as numerous cousins from the Andersons’ and Devanes’.  


Serving as active Pallbearers will be, Lance Vann, Chase Bagwell, Randy Bagwell, Jeremy Bagwell, Ronnie Moulton, and Scott Ervin.


Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be, Don and Thomas Eldridge, Gene Womack, La Rue Lee’s Men’s Sunday School Class from Cowarts Baptist Church, and the Ashford High School graduating class of 1958.
