H. Wayne Taylor of Dothan, AL, died at his residence Monday, January 16, 2012.  He was 74.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2012 in Clearman Chapel of Southern Heritage Funeral Home with Dr. Jevon Goode and Reverend John Taylor officiating.  Burial will follow in Old Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery with Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be at Southern Heritage from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2012 prior to the services. 

Born in Houston County, AL, he was a son of the late Reverend Madison Hulbert and Daisy Juanita Hicks Taylor. Wayne worked with Blakenship Contracting as a job superintendant for approximately forty years prior to his retirement.  He is a member of Pine Hills Freewill Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher and Deacon.

Surviving are his wife of fifty years, Sylvia Roberta Bryan Taylor, Dothan, AL; one daughter, Becky ( Wayne) Hunt, Dothan, AL; three brothers, Wister (Dee) Taylor and Tommy J. (Barbara) Taylor both of Dothan, AL, Jimmy R. (Jan) Taylor, Rehobeth, AL; one sister, Sarah (Garland) Parker, Wyndale, NC; four grandchildren, Brandon (Kristin) Martin, Joshua (Mallory) Martin, Cliff Hunt and Jennifer (Nick) Strickland; nine great grandchildren, Anthony Martin, Aiyana Martin, Marleigh Martin, Bo Martin, Lillian Martin, Colin Strickland, Emily Strickland, Alli Hunt and Stella Clark.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mr. Taylor’s nephews.

Southern Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the Taylor Family.
