Harvey Eldridge Cameron, Jr. of Dothan went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. He was 94.


Funeral services will be held at Ward Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home on Saturday, February 25, with Reverend Rickey Plummer officiating. The family will receive friends at 11:00 am with graveside services beginning at 12:00.


Mr. Cameron is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Ann McAnnally Cameron, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Cameron Sr., brother, George Robert Cameron, and brother-in-law Bascom Metcalf.


His surviving relatives include two daughters, Lori Jordan (Steve), Leigh Bryan (Jim), grandchildren, Chase Jordan (Sarah Elizabeth), Mallory Bancroft (Bill), and Jay, Shane, and Caitlin Bryan. Mr. Cameron was blessed with six lively great-grandchildren, Sarah Cameron Jordan, Abby, Will, Ellen, and Ford Bancroft and Sawyer Bryan, sisters Myra Metcalf (Bascom) of Dothan, Joyce Merritt (John) of Louisville, KY, brother Billy Cameron (Martha) Ft. Walton, FL and sister-in-law Betty Cameron (George) along with much loved nieces and nephews.


Mr. Cameron served in the Armed Forces and was stationed in Austria. Following his return home he worked with the Alabama State Patrol, the John F. Kennedy Space Station in Florida, and Farley Nuclear Plant. But he is best known for Cameron Grocery that served the Cameron Mill community for many years.


Pallbearers will be Steve Jordan, Jim Bryan, Chase Jordan, Bill Bancroft, Billy Cameron, and John Merritt.
