Mr. Herman Harold Hubbard


                                                                                                 



Mr. Herman Harold Hubbard of Wicksburg passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 86.


 


Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2020 at Pilgrim Home Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Buddy Hood officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.


 


Mr. Hubbard was born August 6, 1933 in Tallahassee, FL to the late Sam Lowell and Gladys Thomley Hubbard. He graduated from Wicksburg High School in 1952. After graduation he joined the U.S. Navy where he served for 20 years. While stationed at the Naval Air Station in Key West, FL he met and married the love of his life, Carmen Vidal. After retiring from the U.S. Navy in 1972 he and his family moved back home to Wicksburg, AL. He farmed with his brother, Larry Hubbard and eventually joined the Houston County Sheriff’s Department, where he worked for over 20 years. After his retirement he enjoyed fishing with his brother in law, Jim Bond, meeting with his friends at Shoney’s, Alabama football, and working crossword puzzles. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and never meeting a stranger.


 


 


In addition to his parents his wife, Carmen Hubbard; daughter, Cheryl Smith; daughter in law, Vivian Hubbard, and brother in law, Jim Bond all preceded him in death.


 


Survivors include sons: Harold Hubbard and Samuel Hubbard (Leigh Ann); grandchildren: Josh Little (Helen), Devin Little, Brandon Smith, Shaun Hubbard, Roger Hubbard, Russell Hubbard, Ashley Jones (Landon), and Alyssa Hubbard; great grandchildren: Jayden Little, McKenzie Little, Caleb Hubbard and Carson Hubbard; sister, Willie Jo Bond; brother, Larry Hubbard (Gwen); special family friend, Denise Moore; nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.


 


The family would like to thank Encompass Health Hospice Nurses: Sharon Brown, Jenetha Oliver, and Rebecca Harrison for their love and care given to Mr. Hubbard during his illness.
