Obituary: Mr. Horace H. "Frog" Tindell

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing until service time.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to Day Springs Hospice in Mr. Tindell’s memory.

Mr. Tindell was born April 24, 1938 in Wicksburg, AL to the late Dewey Benjamin and Linnie Mims Tindell. He grew up in Wicksburg as the youngest of five children. In 1957 he joined the Air Force and married Glenda Faye in 1959 with whom he spent 62 wonderful years. He retired from Ft. Rucker in 1966 after 32 years of service and retired from the Air Force in 1998 as Senior Master Sergeant. Even in his final years, he could hear a helicopter from 2 thousand feet over head and accurately name the manufacturer, make, model and year of that particular helicopter; it was in his blood. His pride and joy were his family and he loved nothing more than mountain trips, Carnival Cruises, and holidays with his wife, children, grandchildren, and his great grandson. He and Glenda Faye would pack their bags weeks in advance for one of their mountain trips or cruises, and if he wasn’t planning what he would wear for “fancy night” on the cruise, he was deciding what their first meal would be. He loved fishing, especially with Jennie and Jacob and was an avid Alabama football fan. He was never any happier than during Thanksgiving and Christmas when his entire family would gather at his home around the dinner table. In the last few years, he had developed a habit of giving speeches just before the prayer, and the topic was the same every time; how he believed he had the best family in the world and how much he loved each of them. He was surrounded by love and adoration until his last breath.

Frog was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda Tindell, Slocomb; daughters: Jennie Rich (Chuck), Thomasville, GA, and Stacie Johnson, Slocomb; granddaughters: Morgan Rich (Robyn), Thomasville, GA, Anna Shiver (Zack), Thomasville, GA, and Kara Kinman (Sam), Slocomb; grandson, Jacob Spence, Slocomb; great grandson, Blake KInman, Slocomb and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
