Mr. Roy Howard Glover, a resident of Clayton, Alabama passed away peacefully Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Medical Center Barbour in Eufaula, Alabama surrounded by his loving family. He was 84 years old.

 

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Glover Funeral Home Chapel in Eufaula with Rev. Greg Brown and Dr. Frank Morrison Jr. officiating and Glover Funeral Home of Eufaula directing. Burial will follow in Adams Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery. A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Glover Funeral Home in Eufaula. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Adams Chapel Cemetery Fund c/o Bobbie Hartzog 2865 Highway 131 Clayton, Alabama 36016 or American Kidney Fund- 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852.

 

Howard was born March 24, 1939, in Louisville, Alabama to the late Roy Glover and Mamie Lee Morrison Glover Cook. He was a 1957 graduate of Bakerhill High School and served 8 years in the Alabama National Guard. Howard served as a Barbour County Commissioner for 6 years, volunteered on the Texasville Volunteer Fire Department, Chairman of the Board of the former Barbour Farmers Co-Op, and was named Senior farmer of the year in 1990. He loved farming and took great pride in his work. In his spare time, he enjoyed singing and going to gospel sings around the community and was a member of Adams Chapel United Methodist Church.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rosa Nell Glover Long; infant granddaughter, Margaret Elizabeth Glover; grandson-in-law, John Mitchell.

 

Survivors are his loving wife of 66 years, Billie Faye McCraney Glover; three sons, Eric Glover (Bonnie) of Eufaula, Alabama, Kendall Glover (Caroline) of Dothan, Alabama, Brett Glover (Stephanie) of Columbia, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Erin Glover Christman (Chad) of Ringgold, Georgia, Allie Mitchell of Delta, Alabama, Treavor Dowling (Brandy) of Eufaula, Alabama, Emma Glover, Doster Glover, Libba Ann Glover all of Dothan, Alabama, Willow Faye Glover of Columbia, Tennessee; five great-grandchildren, Maddie Dowling, Carly Christman, Isabella Christman, Nora Jae Mitchell, John Webster Mitchell; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

Active pallbearers are Doster Glover, Dickie McCraney, Mickey McCraney, Nathan Hudson, James Miller, David Long, and Danny Long.

 

Honorary pallbearers are Willie Gilbert, William Burks, Joel Dasinger, Eddie Harris, Max Price, Pat Bynum, Edward Cooper, Lavon Hutto, Mitchell Griffin, Edward Miller, Wayne Faulk, Tim Richards, and Bob Warr.
