Mr. James A. Fowler, 86, died Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 4, 2012, in Clearman Chapel of Southern Heritage Funeral Home with Reverend Wallace Russell and Reverend Ricky Plummer officiating. Burial will follow in Memphis Baptist Church Cemetery with Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 3, 2012 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, 3257 East Cottonwood Road, Dothan, Alabama  36301.

Born in Houston County, Alabama, James was a son of the late Kinion B. and Stacey Dixon Fowler. He engaged in farming until his retirement, served in the U.S. Army during WW II and is a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of sixty-seven years, Billie Brackin Fowler, Dothan, AL; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and husband Larry Fowler, Dothan, AL and Towona and husband Donald Warg, Dothan, AL; a brother and sister-in-law, Allen and wife Glenda Fowler, Dothan, AL; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Fowler, Dothan, Al; four grandchildren, Tonja (Scott) Turvin, Chris (Crystal) Clayton, Bucky (Robin) Fowler, Dustin (Tara) Fowler; ten great grandchildren and one great- great grandchild
