Mr. James Doffie Knight of 535 Bethesda Road, Slocomb passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Signature Healthcare in Graceville.  He was 82.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2012, in Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Byrd officiating.  Burial will follow in Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. 

Mr. Knight was born on February 10, 1929 in Geneva County, AL to the late Scott and Lela Holly Knight.  He was employed most of his life in construction work but was also employed with Knight Sanitation.  He also proudly served his country during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Steavy Knight, and two sisters, Laverne Smith and Myrtle Mert.

Survivors include his loving family:  Sara and her children:  Alice Cobb (James), Mitch Hodges (Linda) and Allen Hodges; one brother:  Walt Knight (Joan); two sisters:  Hortie Mae Jones and Elouise Granger; four grandchildren:  Lorie Barefield (Matt), Brad Cobb, Kimberly Hodges, Kent Hodges (Sarah); three wonderful great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
