Mr. James L. Scott of Malvern passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at SAMC.  He was 78.



Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, in Malvern Baptist Church with Rev. Hosea Parker officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.  Mr. Scott will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time. 



The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.



Mr. Scott was born on October 6, 1933 in Houston County, AL to the Jesse and Ella Pitts Scott.  He was a member of Malvern Baptist Church.  He was family oriented, hard-working farmer and the memories he gave his family will never be forgotten. 



Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Peggy Strickland Scott of Malvern; one son:  Jesse James Scott and his wife, Tammy, of Malvern; two grandchildren:  Jayde Lynn Scott and Jesse James Scott, Jr. both of Malvern; two brothers:  William Scott of Enterprise, Paul Scott (Patricia) of Dothan; seven sisters:  Annie Lee Hall (Harvey) of Dothan, Nancy Summers of Slocomb, Louverne Blackmon (Lunie) of Malvern, Mary Ann Brown (James) of Malvern, Nina Weeks of Abbeville, Bonnie Sykes (Randall) of Dothan, Diane Carver (Ricky) of Enterprise; brothers-in-law:  Jerry Strickland (Katherine), Don Strickland all of Malvern; sister-in-law:  Verlon Spivey (Robert) of Malvern; numerous nieces and nephews.



Pallbearers will be James Bedsole, Leon Hall, Ricky Tucker, Harold Fondren, Ray Tindell and Pete McCollough.
