OZARK… Mr. Jerry Smith, a resident of Ozark, died late Thursday afternoon, November 16, 2022, in the emergency room of Dale Medical Center. He was 78.


            Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, November 19, 2022, in the Cedar Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Randy Kuhn and Reverend Benny Cole officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 P.M. Saturday at the church.


            Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund c/o, David Parker, PO Box 1055, Midland City, Alabama 36350.           


            Mr. Smith, son of the late John C. “J.C.” Smith and Nola B. Yeomans Smith, was a native of Houston County and moved to Ozark in 1967. He was formerly employed with Adams Mill and was retired from Jordan Pile Driving after twenty-eight years of employment. Mr. Smith was an active member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a deacon and on the cemetery committee. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, but most of all being with his grandchildren and family. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler Lee Smith; a great-granddaughter, Raelei Kayleen Boyd; six sisters and four brothers.


            Surviving relatives include his wife of fifty-four years, Linda K. Smith, Ozark; a daughter, Stephanie K. Hitchcock (Terry), Black, Alabama; a son, James C. Smith (Shelly), Ewell; grandchildren, Aimee Boyd (Ray), Christina Copanic (Chad), Amanda Hitchcock, Taylor Smith and Emilee Smith; seven great grandchildren, and one on the way; numerous nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Judy Yeoman, Dothan.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Cary Yeoman, Willie Smith, Ronnie Wiggins, David Richardson, Jared Yeoman, and Andy Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Cordell and Robert Smith.
